Blaise the Baker Celebrates!
Blaise Doubman

Well, here we go again and it is official! My second cookbook, “Blaise the Baker Celebrates” will be released on July 19th, 2018! In just a few short weeks. I am so excited about this and can not possibly put into words my thankfulness and gratitude that I get to do this all over again. This cookbook is all about celebrations and celebrating even the small things in life. Preorders start now. If you are interested in buying a copy, simply send $15 total, $12 for the cookbook and $3 shipping and handling, to Blaise Doubman / Box 47 / Kennard, IN 47351. You can also purchase through PayPal. When sending payment though PayPal, use the email address blaisejdx@gmail.com If you buy 4 or more copies, shipping and handling is free!

“Blaise the Baker Celebrates” is filled with 200 recipes! I have selected a few of my most popular blog recipes to include in the cookbook as well as some of my most popular “Chew This!” columns. However, lots of the recipes that you will find inside have never before been published anywhere before! I am so excited to share recipes such as Brownie Batter Cheesecake, Broccoli Mac and Cheese Bake, Southern Style Corn Casserole, Delicious Chicken, Chicken Noodle Soup, Creamy Tomato Soup, Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Treats, Brownie Thins, Slow Cooker Cola Roast, Slow Cooker Salsa Treat and Quick Chicken Stir Fry. My Quick Chicken Stir Fry was one of the most talked about recipes between my recipe testers. Some loved it, some hated it, some took their own liberties with it and added what they liked but everyone agreed that it was really something to talk about. They could not believe it! Not all of the recipes I developed though could be used, which leads me to the recipe I am sharing today. These cupcakes are the perfect thing for a celebration and I highly recommend you try them!

Celebration Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

These are a fabulous addition to any summer party! Make these ahead and place them in the refrigerator to chill for up to 2 days before serving. These are fabulous served chilled and even better slightly frozen. They can also be served at room temperature but I find people like them better served cold. I love the looks of the pink frosting with the rainbow sprinkles decorating the tops. Fun, festive and perfect for a celebration!

For the cupcakes…
1 box vanilla cake mix
¾ cup thawed pink lemonade concentrate
½ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup water
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt

For the frosting…
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons thawed pink lemonade concentrate
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 ½ cups confectioners’ sugar
Few drops of pink food coloring
Rainbow sprinkles for decorating

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F.

Line 2 12-cup cupcake tins with paper cupcake wrappers.

In a large bowl beat together the vanilla cake mix, thawed pink lemonade concentrate, vegetable oil, water, large eggs, pure vanilla extract and salt. Beat until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the batter is smooth and glossy.

Divide the batter, evenly, between the prepared cupcake cavities. Place into preheated oven and bake for 22 minutes. Remove and allow to cool before frosting.

To make the frosting, combine the melted unsalted butter, thawed pink lemonade concentrate, pure vanilla extract and salt. Slowly beat in the confectioners’ sugar. Add in the pink food coloring. Just a couple of drops depending on the color of frosting you are wanting.

Frost the cupcakes generously and sprinkle the tops with rainbow sprinkles.

Ask and Answer: I have been getting a lot of messages from people curious as to if my first cookbook, “Blaise the Baker Dessert First” can still be purchased. Yes! My cookbook is also available to purchase at Carousel Flowers and Gifts in Shirley, Indiana as well as The Book Nook, Glen Oaks Health Campus and Temptations in New Castle, Indiana. Take it away Donna…

“Flavorful scented sips on an early spring evening” By: Donna Cronk

If there is the slightest nip in the air, no matter the month of the year, you can expect to find me sipping a cup of hot tea on any given evening in my home. Or, when visiting someone else’s home overnight or even when staying in a motel. It’s a favorite ritual.

So when I got home from work one Tuesday recently, and I discovered that Blaise had sent me not one but two delicious teas to try from White Cloud World Teas, the timing was perfect; the agenda set.

It was a damp-and-chilly early April day here in Indiana so following supper, I headed to the bathtub for my other favorite evening ritual – a hot bath.

As soon as I warmed up in the soapy soak, I put on my most cozy animal-print jammies and headed for the kitchen. First up was the intoxicatingly scented Lavender Vanilla Earl Grey. This stuff smells so great that it would make a fine potpourri if it weren’t meant for sipping.

Oh, but a cuppa tea was in the plan. Nothing quite relaxes me or finishes my day like a delicious tea. For Christmas, my husband Brian bought me an electric kettle. It quickly boils my water and then into a ceramic teapot it went, along with a teabag filled with the aromatic blend.

I could hardly wait the couple of minutes required for a good steep to try the finished brew. The scent was lovely and the color a golden brown. The steaming cup of tea hit the spot! The flavor was subtle. Better have a second cup. I liked it even better after a few more minutes of steeping as I prefer a stout tea.

Like a kid on Christmas, I couldn’t wait to try my second offering of the evening. But I wasn’t about to waste the rest of my pot of tea. So I poured it off into a glass, covered it with plastic and tomorrow I’ll make an iced version of the brew.

Then I went through the quick and easy process of brewing a pot of my second featured flavor – Lavender Berry. This one had a fruity scent that reminded me of summer. The flavor echoed that thought as I sipped and let my mind wander to the spring and summer nights to come, and in particular, the ones where I’ll warm up from my husband’s over-zealous cooling of the house with an evening brew. This would be delicious iced as well!

I’ll be checking out http://www.whitecloudworldteas.com and seeing what other flavors and goodies are available. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the last sip from this evening’s samples of fine teas. Thanks for the taste, Blaise and White Cloud World Teas!

What kind of recipes are inside my cookbook?

Take a look below –

Trisha Yearwood!!!

So yesterday my parents and I attended a Trisha Yearwood book signing / meet and greet at the Williams-Sonoma in the Keystone Mall in Indianapolis. We were not sure what to expect but I think we were all shocked when THIS moment happened! I am still SO EXCITED about it! Wow…

SOMEONE PINCH ME!!! No – this is not photoshopped! Ha! Mom gave Trisha Yearwood a copy of my cookbook and she LOVED IT! She turned to me and asked ME for my autograph! Told her I had already autographed it! She said “Good!” Ha! She was flipping over it and talking about how she really appreciated it – said she would read it “like a novel” and said she loved cookbooks! She said she would read it on her tour bus! Someone PINCH ME!!! We chatted for a bit about our mutual cookbook love and then she thanked me again and gave me another hug! She was the sweetest and so friendly! LOVE HER!!!

Blaise

One Year!

It has been ONE YEAR today that my debut cookbook “Blaise the Baker Dessert First” was released! I still honestly can not believe it! A labor of love for me – taking nearly five years to complete. So much has happened since then and I am so humbled, grateful and thankful for all of your dedication and support – which still continues today. I have heard from so many of you through emails, phone calls, text messages, social media, snail mail and even fax about how much you love my cookbook – how you love the stories and recipes and how much respect you have for my recipes because they have been tested and actually work! When I first started this journey I had no idea my cookbook would set foot in Canada, Australia, Africa, Japan and parts of Europe! It blows my mind to think that I am known in parts of the United States, outside of Indiana – and really blows my mind to think I am known in other parts of the World! It also blows my mind to think that my cookbook will soon be going into a THIRD PRINTING! I am so incredibly thankful and I could not have accomplished any of this without all of you. Your continued support, dedication, feedback, love and encouragement means everything to me and I will always be thankful for it. THANK YOU ALL!

Love, Blaise
